Do you want to laugh and learn at the same time? The hilariously funny DVD teaching skits, “Conversations: Mr. Law & Mr. Grace” will do just that. I want to send it to you, and I believe you will be enriched.

Jesus revealed His grace to me in a new way just over eight years ago. One of the areas deeply affected was how I talk about money and giving. It is no secret that our ministry needs lots of money, as the partners of World Impact Ministries reach millions of precious souls.

There are two ways to talk about giving, and only one of them really brings true prosperity. Here is the key; our focus is not on money, but on Jesus and on you!
Look at this; “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7).

“Grudgingly” means sorrowfully. “Of necessity” is under pressure, distress and obligation. God loves when things are done freely and cheerfully. When prayer, church attendance, worship and bible study is under pressure and obligation it is of little value.
I don’t do missions out of obligation, I do it joyously; it’s a privilege to serve Jesus, even when I risk my life. I’m not saved because of fear of hell, or fear of missing the rapture; I like being saved. I enjoy Jesus!

•  The Day of Pentecost brought such cheerfulness that people gave cash, possessions, even real estate to the Gospel (Acts 4:34-37).

•  Zaccheus gave away four times as much as he had taken (Luke 19:1-10). This is grace giving.

Sadly, many teach about money in a way that God’s people feel pressured. Hear me, manipulative appeals for money are not God’s way to bless you. Under the Old Covenant of Moses people gave tithes and offerings under duress. If they didn’t give they would be cursed, the windows of heaven would remain closed, and the devil would devour them. We have a better covenant…

…Jesus took our curse (Gal 3:13).

…Jesus opened heaven once for all (Hebr 4:4; 10:19-20).

…Jesus totally defeated the devil (Hebr 2:14; Col 2:15).

We are not motivated by condemnation. We give because of Jesus’ total victory. Abraham is our example! Abraham “gave… a tithe of all”, after God had given him victory (Gen 14:20). His giving was a celebration.

We celebrate that Jesus is the key to our prosperity. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Cor 8:9).

Did you see that? We are rich by what Jesus has done. He loved you, He became poor for you and He provided for your abundance.

We love, because we are recipients of Christ’s love. Paul wrote about the offering, “I speak … to prove the sincerity of your love” (2 Cor 8:8). When money is given to God because of love, it becomes a seed that is multiplied (2 Cor 9:6). Love makes the law of sowing and reaping work for you.

Right now, say, ‘Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unconditional love for me and my family. You love me so lavishly, so wonderfully! Thank You for the opportunities and privilege to give an offering in celebration of what Jesus Christ has provided for me!!’

Enjoy God’s love for you! Grace makes us givers. I’m sending this letter while I’m still in Indonesia, conducting our 22nd campaign in the world’s largest muslim country. What God has done through YOUR ministry and YOUR relationship with World Impact Ministries is beyond words; Millions have heard and received the Gospel.

Dear Friend,

Franky made me cry. He is only ten years old, has never known his dad, and his mom is as poor as can be. He lives with his brother and sister in an almost unimaginable condition… kitchen, bedroom, everything is squeezed into ten square feet.

Franky started school when he was 6 years old. His mom sells baked goods on the street to pay rent, to get food and for her kids to have shoes to wear to school. Franky doesn’t think of himself as poor; this is the only life he has known. Like all kids rich or poor, he wants to play… swing in the trees, kick a ball with other boys and go to school.

One morning three years ago Franky’s life changed. He felt an excruciating pain in his feet, and day by day the pain got worse, then paralysis set in. Within a few weeks, the paralysis moved from his feet up through his legs. His mother took him to the local hospital, but there was no help. To get an MRI or a CAT scan would require a trip to a much more sophisticated hospital, and the tests would cost money.

Franky could no longer make it to school. The paralyzed boy became very limited; sitting at home on the couch. While his brother and sister were playing outside, Franky’s life was relegated to playing with soda bottle caps that his brother and sister had found on the street.

To me this depicts the cruelty of the enemy of our soul, the devil himself, whose plan for every life is -- limitations, impossibilities and restrictions.

During our Gospel Festival earlier this year in Dar es Salaam, Africa, your partnership reached that little ten square foot room with a leaflet that said, “The lame can walk”. By Thursday night, the rumors had reached Franky’s little home that this was not just an advertisement slogan, it was real; Jesus was showing himself alive to people on the Jangwani grounds in the middle of this huge city.

It wasn’t an easy task after a full days’ work, in the scorching heat of the sun, but Franky’s mother carried him on her back to the Gospel Festival. That night I preached on the lame man, who came through the roof and heard Jesus’ astounding statement, “Son, your sins are forgiven you”.

I told the people that the seed of the Gospel, contains the life of God. An apple seed contains the life of an apple, a mango seed, the life of a mango, and the Gospel seed contains the Life of God. This life produces salvation, healing, blessing… everything you need.

Franky and his mother heard and believed, and when the prayer was offered, suddenly something happened in his feet and legs; there was strength, life, and sensitivity. Franky didn’t hesitate. He got up, and it didn’t take many seconds before he was jumping and running.

The next day some of our team members visited in Franky’s home. Though I met Franky the night he was healed, I hadn’t fully grasped what happened. When one of the team members told me the whole story I cried.. I thought of God’s love for ONE person. I thought of you, and all of our partners who make this possible. In my spirit the words arose – IT ONLY TAKES ONE!

ONE BOY who was willing to believe.

ONE MOTHER was willing to carry her son.

ONE PARTNER paid to print the leaflet that reached Franky’s hand.

ONE PARTNER paid for the sound system that was used to amplify the message that brought faith into Franky’s heart.

ONE PARTNER paid for the follow-up booklet, “Salvation, God’s Gift to You”, that became Franky and his family’s first teaching on their new life in Christ.

Most of all, there is ONE SAVIOR who 2,000 years ago, carried Franky’s sins and sicknesses in His own body on the tree, “one died for all”.

I leave for Indonesia in a few days. I need your help! This campaign will also be the story of many ones, precious muslim and buddhist friends, whose lives will be forever changed. It will also be the story of many partners, who all became that one, who willingly shared a gift that made it all possible.

When we asked Franky 24 hours after his miracle, “how has your life changed?”, he answered, “I just went outside to play ball with my friends, climb trees and have fun!” This muslim neighborhood is looking on in amazement, asking what happened. The answer is echoing from house to house; Jesus healed Franky, Jesus is really alive.

Have you ever suffered a setback? I did. Twelve years ago I was banned from India, charged with the crime of “mass conversion”. After eighteen years of Gospel Festivals across India, our books and material translated into thirteen languages, and touching millions of precious people; all that came to a standstill.

Praise God, a setback is not permanent. With God there is always a comeback. That is a word for you!

Now, we are back in India, to Orissa State, the place known as a hotbed of persecution and oppression. My thinking was that I want to start in the worst place, because if it can happen in Orissa, it can happen anywhere.

Our purpose remains unchanged after all these years.

I have given my entire life to introduce the person of Jesus and to proclaim His gospel. The fire of God that drove me to India in 1980, is now compelling us to launch another season of great harvest. The message of Jesus is never outdated. The world is waiting to hear the good news of God’s love.

YOU were there with me in the “Friendship Festival” in Orissa India. YOUR faithful seed gifts were used by the Lord Jesus. Read Report from Orissa, India Festival

Dear Friend,

Orissa, India has been the focus of so much pain and terror. In just a few days, God’s love is about to be revealed to people who have faced injustice, humiliation and fear.

Together we are making a difference.

The religious tension in Orissa first came to the world’s attention in January 1999, when Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons were killed, while trapped in a car that was set on fire. The mob responsible for their deaths was led by a militant political activist, and all the perpetrators of this crime continue to roam freely.

Attacks in Orissa have included killing priests and pastors, raping nuns and other Christian women, vandalizing churches, schools and cemeteries and forcing thousands of Christians to convert to Hinduism.

Christmas was a particularly painful time, when religious fundamentalists attacked and destroyed many churches; a large number of christians were injured and made homeless.

In August 2008 hindu fundamentalists were gunned down by a communist group, but christians were blamed, and again a vicious assault on the christian community was launched. In one night there were violent attacks on 35 separate christian centers in Orissa; bombs, killings and vandalism, even a church-run orphanage was attacked and its caretaker was set ablaze and burned to death.

These people have suffered in a way most of us may never know.

One of the reasons for the attacks is that large numbers of “untouchables”, the poorest of India’s population, have become believers in Jesus, and now they were being forced to convert back to Hinduism.

Yet, there is hope, because during this whole time, the small struggling church has stood strong. One pastor said, “Even if they kill us, this will cause thousands to come to Christ”.

One woman, who believed in Jesus, was killed while on the way to harvest a rice patty. Another woman, Lalita Digal, was dragged from the home and murdered while just visiting a friend in a village. In many of these cases there have been no arrests and no serious investigation.

You may wonder why in the world is World Impact Ministries getting involved in Orissa. People say, “Peter, why do you go to places that are so difficult?”

The answer lies in the Greek word “kairos”, which means “the opportune time”. For the past 11 years, there have been no large-scale Gospel campaigns in Orissa, as tension, uncertainty and fear has ruled the day. Now there is a shift in the government, and the door has opened just a bit.

I will be in Orissa in a few days because now is the opportune time. Proverbs tells us, “He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.” (Proverbs 10:5).

It is harvest time! We must not sleep when the great opportunity is right before us. This is Orissa’s time.

Our budget is $185,000, and we expect well over 100,000 people to come to Christ. So far, we have received $67,000. Thank You! I don’t know how the remaining $118,000 need will be met, but I do know if everyone who read this participates, we will have total victory.

If 100 people will give $1,180, the need will be met. Or if 1,000 will give $118, or 2,000 people giving $59.

Dear Friend,

“The greatest crime in the desert is finding water and keeping silent.”

The world is a spiritual desert of religious self-effort, where people thirst for reality. When I saw this ancient proverb, something in my spirit shouted, “We will not keep silent!”, but we will share the most satisfying, thirst-quenching commodity in the world; Jesus Himself.

Look at the effects of the “Living Water” of Jesus during our campaign in Tanzania.

Take Bernard as an example! He came to our Gospel Festival six years ago, a helpless invalid, his feet twisted and deformed, with his soles pointing upwards. Hopeless beyond all medical cures, miraculously God’s power snapped his feet into place. Now, he has a job, a good life, and best of all, he is a follower of Jesus.

What about Mr. Mohammed? He was a pilot in the Tanzanian Air Force, when he became blind eleven years ago. The “Living Water” touched his soul, opened his blind eyes, and today he is a believer in Jesus.

Or what about young Franky? Eleven years old, for two years a hopeless invalid, carried on his mother’s back to the Tanzania Gospel Festival. Jesus healed his paralyzed legs and salvation has now come to his house.

What about the demon-possessed woman who would black out four times a day, exhibiting violent and dangerous behavior, not even recognizing what she was doing. Jesus saved and delivered her!

What about thousands of souls who drank of this “Living Water” every night? Jesus gave an ironclad promise that if we drink the water He gives, we’ll never thirst again (John 4:14).

Our next challenge is to bring this “Living Water” to Orissa, India. I must have your help in the next few days.

As you receive this, our representative is in India to meet governmental and religious leaders.

I’ve already promised to sponsor 1,000 pastors to our Pastor’s Seminar. Just the other day I gave the go-ahead for printing 100, 000 books for new believers. This is in addition to hundreds of other expenses needed to make a Gospel Festival happen.

Imagine a man dying of thirst in the desert. He’s offered a choice between two buckets, one full of the world’s rarest diamonds, and the other full of water. Of course, he will take the water. That’s what Jesus meant when He said what shall it profit a person to gain the whole world and lose his soul? What gain would there be in a bucket of the most precious diamonds if your body is gasping for a drop of water?

That’s how I see the world. The only true “thirst quencher” is Jesus. Our situation is critical. I don’t know where to turn except to precious friends like you. You believe in the value of Jesus and the value of souls.

Because of persecution, the door for the Gospel has been shut for the past 15 years in Orissa, India. Now, the door is open! Thank you, for giving your very best offering! Thank you, for your love! We are doing this together!

The Lord Jesus said “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14). We are living in exciting days. The gospel is going to the nations and is reaching people who have never heard it before.

From everything I’ve personally seen, I can report that people are hungry for Jesus and the power of God. Their hunger is reaching a new intensity and, friend, together we are making a commitment to share the Living Bread.

I see it crystal clear. When I stand up to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, each partner in ministry stands there with me on each Gospel Campaign stage. We are in partnership together.

In many of our Gospel Festivals, government, business and religious leaders attend the services. News of what God is doing spreads quickly; not only to cities, but to surrounding regions and countries. This great harvest of souls is taking place in our lifetime; it’s happening now. Each person who prays and plants seeds into this ministry has a vital part in what has happened and what is going to happen.

First, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Our focus is clear; to do something historical. Though other gospel events have been held, our ministry is focused on penetrating the enormous Islamic community. Pray with me for a huge breakthrough and take action now; today if possible. The need is critical because we still are lacking some of the much-needed funds for this campaign. As soon as the campaign itself is over the follow-up will start. We must have the financial breakthrough in the next ten to twelve days. Thank you.

After Tanzania, we focus on Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India. If you follow the news, you will have noticed Orissa mentioned from time to time, usually in the context of persecution against Christians. The Christian population is miniscule, and yet militant groups have risen up to kill and to burn down the few churches. Some Christians have been beheaded, others burned to death- the atrocities have been beyond words.

As a result of these persecutions, there have been basically no gospel activities. Recently there was a change in the state government, with the door opening just a little bit. We’re taking that crack in the door and going in full blast with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We cannot hold back. We must take the message of God’s saving and healing power to Orissa state, and we must do it now… before it’s too late.

Thank you for standing with me. We do what we do for our wonderful Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you for your seed towards this historic harvest. I boldly ask you to send your most generous sacrificial seed. Some can give $1,000 or more. Others can give $50, $100, $300, or $75.

Of course the Holy Spirit doesn’t leave us, but we can easily lose the benefits of the Helper, Counselor and Comforter that Jesus sent for us.

• • “Prevailing prayers” rise above any problem.
• • The gates of hell shall not prevail against, or rise above, the church Jesus is building.
• • The waters of Noah prevailed over the earth, which means the water rose higher than the land. In Ephesus, “So mightily grew the Word of God and prevailed”. Simply put, God’s word rose higher than all the problems.

Do you see it? God’s grace rises higher than any other force, situation, scheme, or deception of the devil. God’s grace is always “sufficient”. That is exactly what we saw in Pakistan, “the most dangerous country in the world”, according to the US president. But even there God’s grace prevailed.

Yes, we faced bomb threats, which escalated to suicide bomb threats. Yet right in those dire circumstances, the grace of God rose higher; thousands of Muslims were saved, healed and delivered.

I wish you could have been there the night I preached, “The blind can see again”, with twenty-five outstanding healings of blindness; 22 were Muslims and 3 Hindus. Some had traveled many hours, some were born blind, but all heard the Gospel and were set free.

Paul tells the Philippians that they were “part-takers with him in grace”. No one had communicated in giving and receiving like the Philippians and now they were recipients of the same grace that was on Paul’s ministry. Your giving is a part of historical happenings that are shaking nations.

Don’t you think that the same God, who gave such a historical harvest in Pakistan, is going to see to it that there is a harvest of increase in your life? Absolutely!

This email and photo report is being prepared while I am in Indonesia. Our next campaign is in northern Nigeria, in an area known for Islamic hostility. God really gives us “favor in the lion’s den”, and you, partner, have the same favor on your life. These historical outreaches must not come to a halt. I need to hear from you now. 6 PM. Still in my room. The meeting has just started, but I don't leave the hotel until 7:15 to start preaching at 7:55 PM. Suddenly Marius Nicolaisen, our Gospel Campaign Director, messages me that our local coordinator has received word of a grave threat from a 'high official' in the President's office and we must immediately shut down the Gospel Festival. A militant religious group, maybe Al Quada is behind this, At first I argue against this. What if someone is just trying to fool us, to make us fearful? After repeated calls to numerous authorities asking for one more night is met with stone walling, it becomes clear that this threat is very real. If we don't obey there will be "serious damage to our coordinator and his family". We all know what "serious damage" means in Pakistan; burned houses and churches, beheadings, etc.

Received news that the Festival is shut down.

6:15 PM. Marius, Nazir (our local co-coordinator), and two other key workers come to my room. The mood is grim. These brothers have worked with me tirelessly for seven months to impact Hyderabad with the Gospel. I am thinking of my partners, who have sacrificed for this historical outreach in the Sindh province of Pakistan where the Gospel is virtually unknown. We all want the impact of a full 5-day event. The Gospel advancement, we all believe in, is at stake. After half an hour of more phone calls, we feel the situation is hopeless. Meanwhile we are receiving messages from the Gospel festival ground. The service has not started, and while people are pouring in through the metal detectors there is a sense of chaos. Fear is spreading; some are leaving while thousands of Muslims are waiting, hoping that there will be a meeting.

6:55 PM. Once again, I'm alone in my room. I've asked the team to head to the field to love the people and let them know that I'm ready to come and minister. The people, especially the thousands of Muslims, need to know that we will only give up if we are forced; we will never quit voluntarily. This is not my work. It is Jesus' Gospel and Jesus' ministry, so I'm practicing resting in Jesus. I have been in many of these battles through the years. Sometimes there is a seeming chance, but I don't see one this time.

7-8 PM. Marius and I are text messaging back and forth. He is on the grounds while I'm sitting with my Bible open, just softly praying. No hope it seems. Some officials have taken Mr. Nazir from the grounds in a car, and I'm a little concerned. Other officials are checking all our permits from the police, mayor's office, Homeland Security, etc

8:05 PM. I go down to the hotel lobby with my Bible [just in case]. I want to be with our team when they return from the field to encourage everyone. I'm reminded that the apostle Paul suffered setbacks; just read the book of Acts. Once he had to escape from a city in a basket.

8:10 PM. Suddenly I receive word that an inexplicable reversal has occurred. Singing has started. Within minutes I'm in the car sending text-messages so the translator will have my scripture verses in hand. We don't have a minute's time to waste.

Crowd gathered at Festival

8:30 PM. I'm on the platform and the people are excited. Time to get right to the task at hand, giving the people the Gospel. Guards with drawn pistols are all around me. I try not to notice. My text is Acts 14:7-9, about the lame man who heard the Gospel in Lystra. Well, the people are about to hear it tonight. I know my preaching time is limited. The police have told us we must be done by 9:30 PM so I give four simple Gospel points: God made a perfect world, Sin destroyed it, Jesus fixed it, You can receive it. At 8:55 PM. thousands join in a prayer of salvation, receiving the free gift of the forgiveness of sin. Then 35 minutes of healing testimonies for a wrap up at 9:35 PM, five minutes after the police told us. I can't explain the reversal that happened tonight. More tomorrow. I will try to find out how God turned this around for us.

Remarkable Night 1 in Pakistan

It was clear from the first service that God loves without discrimination. Immediately the platform filled with people eager to testify. A Muslim lady, her face covered by a black chadar, radiantly described how Jesus had healed her daughter who had been deaf for the past 10 years. Another dozen cases of deafness were healed. The night finished with a boy blind since early childhood, demonstrating how he could see everything. The crowd roared and praised God. More importantly thousands, mostly Muslims, eagerly responded to the salvation call.

I told the people I had come to be a witness in four areas. First, I want give my witness to the reality of Jesus Christ. Secondly to God's love remitting our sins. Thirdly to the power in the name of Jesus, and fourthly to that fact that Jesus does today what He did 2000 years ago.

Yes Hyderabad, Pakistan’s sixth largest city is buzzing. Muslims are calling our Campaign office non-stop giving thanks for what is happening. The only ones nervous are the police, who erected sniper towers near our grounds to give careful surveillance in case of any troublemakers. So far, there has been no sign of anyone wanting to cause trouble. Tomorrow morning, we begin the Pastors' seminar, with just over 1100 registered delegates from 26 cities across Pakistan. Thank you partners. The Gospel is the power of God!

Have you ever been thrown into a lion’s den? Not literally, but you felt like it. Maybe circumstances or a bad report made you feel trapped with no way out.

Why did God allow Daniel to be cast into the lions’ den? Simply, so that God’s power and love would be shown even greater and more awesome. Can you hear the sound of triumph in Daniel’s voice when he shouted,

“My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions’ mouths that they have not hurt me”, (Daniel 6:22).

You may have faced some “lion’s den” situations. I have, and each time God showed Himself more mighty. Here are some examples:

• Years ago, militant Hindus attacked us in the city of Agra, smashing 225 lights and burning cars, to discredit Jesus and stop our campaign. God delivered us, no one was hurt and it became the greatest outreach in the history of that region in India.

• 3,000 demonstrators fuelled by hateful propaganda tried to stop our Gospel Campaign in Bandung, Indonesia. The police allowed me only half hour to preach, but with only three minutes to go, a Muslim woman walked out of her wheelchair totally healed. The demonstrators vanished and God gave a great victory.

• Recently one police chief reported 14 separate death threats against me from various terrorist groups in Central Java, Indonesia, but like Daniel, “there was no harm come to me”.

I have proven that with God we are safe even in the lion’s den. Yet, in a “lion’s den” of troubles, we often ask “why?” Look at Daniel!

1) Daniel was covered by God’s favor. You are favored. Both the devil and religious Pharisees hate to see God’s favor on you. The enemies trumped up charges against Daniel, but no weapon formed against him prospered.

2) Daniel received favor from the ungodly king of Babylon, who said, “Your God … will deliver you”, (Daniel 6:16). Look at that! Even the king, who was part of the conspiracy against Daniel, spoke blessing and favor. God’s favor on you will cause even your enemies to bless you.

In the next few weeks I’ll be in both Indonesia and Pakistan, countries that many have described as a lion’s den. Persecution is common; some believers have been sentenced to prison or death because of trumped up charges of blaspheming the Koran.

Yet, parallel with the fanatic groups that do anything to stop the Gospel, there are millions hungry and thirsty for Jesus.

Dating as far back as 1985, we have seen phenomenal victories in Pakistan, where tens of thousands of Muslims have received Jesus. Our nineteen Gospel Campaigns in Indonesia have been unparalleled, with hundreds of thousands coming to Christ.

Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim nation and Pakistan is the second largest. Some are asking, ”why are you going?” It’s not that I’m looking for danger; I have already had enough adventure to last several lifetimes. No, our quest is SOULS, SOULS, SOULS. Everyone must have a chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus.

Look at this statement: “The zeal of the Lord… shall do it”, (Isaiah 37:32).

Did you see that? Zeal gets the job done. You could say; “no passion – no achievement”. Why did Jesus accomplish so much? JESUS WAS PASSIONATE! He said, “zeal for Your house has eaten Me”, (John 2:17). Jesus was consumed with passion, and...

... we are born for passion. Have you noticed little children? A new toy or a new friend; kids are so easily upset or excited. Teenagers are passionate, plastering their walls with posters of rock stars, sports celebrities and movie stars. Children and young people show their passion in so many ways; clothes, shoes, haircuts.

Adults are passionate, too. Have you been to a memorabilia auction for Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley or Princes Di. I haven’t, but I heard they are pretty wild events. People go crazy over their favorite celebrity. Look at the recent Michael Jackson funeral. Yes, we are all born to be passionate.

Without passion, success will be short-lived, but with a continual passion we will be energized to go from increase to increase.

The SOURCE OF PASSION is JESUS HIMSELF. “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Love and passion are related. Once God’s love is in us, that love wants to express itself in passionate ways––sharing, giving, communicating. God’s love makes us lovers. It is inevitable. Wounded people wound others, while those who know that God loves them, spread love to others.

You see, PASSION IS CONTAGIOUS.

Some may think that passion is a mere emotion. In reality, passion is a force inside of us, and without it we will not accomplish God’s purpose.

The youngest of Jesus’ disciples, John, showed passion:

At the Last Supper. It was important to John to sit next to Jesus. I can see him pushing the other disciples out of the way so that he could lean his head on Jesus’ chest, (John 13:23-25).

At the cross. John stood close, right beside Mary, while rest of the disciples were far away, (John 19:26-27).

At the resurrection. John’s passion took the upper hand; he didn’t even wait for Simon Peter, as he ran to see if Jesus was really risen, (John 20:2-5).

On the island of Patmos. John fell at Jesus’ feet. (Rev. 1:9-18).

Passion for Jesus is expressed as we journey from nation to nation. We are carriers of the Gospel of Jesus, deeply indebted to those, who do not know it yet.

Passion is expressed by every partner, who gives an offering, saying “YES” to the salvation of souls.

Passion from God has taken us into “forbidden areas.”

1.4 billion people live behind the IRON GATES OF ISLAM. Very few preachers gain access to this forbidden world. In the last seven years I have seen incredible open doors with Muslims coming to Jesus.

The next two months we are conducting 3 great Gospel Campaigns in Muslim areas, one in Indonesia and two in Pakistan.

We have a four-pronged approach:

1) Gospel Campaigns that reach hundreds of thousands.

Our purpose is to make the greatest impact on the nations. Religion has left people tired and exhausted and they are ready to be refocused on Jesus Christ. We do this job TOGETHER; your ministry is being extended through World Impact Ministries. You are changing nations, one person at the time.

Believers desire to live fruitful and godly lives, so why do we fail? What is the solution?

“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption – that, as it is written, He who glories, let him glory in the Lord” (1 Cor 1:30 – 31).

The teaching that we are righteous through Jesus Christ without our own merits often leads to a question, “How can we be righteous without doing righteous deeds first?” Let’s turn the question around, “How could Jesus have been made sin without committing any sinful deed?” After all, the Bible tells us that when Jesus went to the cross He was made sin. How is this possible? The answer is: it was the work of God. God took the world’s sins and put them on Jesus. We are made righteous the same way – it is the work of God. We become new creations in Christ Jesus without our own merits.

Some may think that we avoid the question of sin, but that’s not the case. On the contrary, we are teaching how true sanctification comes.

Truly Sanctified

How do we get victory over sin? How are we sanctified? Let me show from God’s Word the only power that sets us free from sin and sanctifies us – God’s grace. Some preachers like to use two words that Paul doesn’t mention: positional and experiential. Those teachers say that positionally we are sanctified in Jesus; He has become our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. But at the same time they say that we are not experientially sanctified.

Remember, Paul is writing this to the Corinthians, and we know there were many sins and conflicts in Corinth. Yet, the Corinthians were told, as a completed fact, that Jesus Christ has become their wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. He doesn’t use the words positional and experiential. He speaks about Jesus, our sanctification, as a reality. Jesus has really and truly become our sanctification. If sanctification comes through grace, no one can glory of himself, but only he who glories “let him glory in the Lord.” If we claim that we only have a position as sanctified, it becomes meaningless – because we live in the realm of experience. I’m not interested in Jesus as a mere theological position, but what Jesus Christ is in me now, in reality, that means something.

Dead to Sin

We read, “…reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 6:11). Notice Paul says “reckon.” This is not a mere theological point of view, but something much more real. To reckon something is to really count on it. In other words, really count on the fact that you are dead to sin. He continues, “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (Rom 8:13). If we try to be holy through our own power and might, it will only lead into death. But if we practice the New Covenant, the covenant of the Spirit, it will produce life. The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. We can live this new life in Christ only if we allow the Holy Spirit to be our Helper.

When you stand before a confusing situation, be still and confess Jesus Christ is your wisdom. It doesn’t take a long time. You don’t have to pray for an hour to “have a breakthrough” or to get “wisdom anointing.”

When you are tempted to sin, be still and confess Jesus Christ is your righteousness.

Jesus Christ is your wisdom right there on the spot. You will be amazed how His wisdom will manifest in you. You will discover that by appealing to Him the answer will come very quickly even to very difficult situations.

When you are tempted to sin, be still and confess Jesus Christ is your righteousness. You don’t have to fight. When you take a few moments confessing that He is your righteousness, you will notice how His life manifests in you.

The victory is not won by saying “NO” to sin, but by saying “YES” to Jesus. The more we say “no” to sin, the more we will be aware of sin. The more we say “yes” to Jesus, the more we will be aware of Jesus, and that’s when sin loses its grip.

Our sanctification rests on Jesus Christ, and what He has done. It doesn’t depend on you - it depends on Him. Look at His finished work.

If you have low self-esteem and you feel unworthy, be still and confess Jesus is your redemption. You will experience how His life, strength and joy manifest in you.

“Man-made” methods

There are “man-made” methods, even in the charismatic world, of sanctification. One pastor said, “If you have a habitual sin, you have a demon.” That is not what the New Testament teaches. We read of a person, who did what he didn’t want to do (Romans chapter 7), but the chapter doesn’t mention one single demon. Instead, this person describes a person who is trying to fulfill God’s commandments in his own strength. The more he tried to fulfill the Law in his own strength, the worse the situation became. The only solution to this “wretched” person was God’s abundant grace. The more we see Jesus Christ revealed in us, the more victory manifests in our life.

The spiritual armor in Ephesians chapter 6 deals with God’s grace. The helmet talks about salvation – we are saved by grace. The breastplate points to righteousness – Jesus is our righteousness. The belt is the truth – Jesus said, “I’m the truth.” The sword speaks about the Spirit – we live in the covenant of the Spirit, not of the letter. The shoes symbolize the Gospel of peace – the peace that Jesus’ blood has purchased for us.

I saw a book titled Christian – Set Yourself Free. Have you ever heard anything so absurd? Is this our covenant? Should we set ourselves free? Many will try, but when they try to make themselves holy and free, they never become really free. They may feel like they are free for a short period of time, and then they are seeking freedom again.

It’s popular to use the phrase “JUST SAY NO.” This teaching emphasizes that our own willpower can make us holy. When our will wrestles with sin, our willpower will always lose. If our own willpower could produce sanctification, Jesus’ death and resurrection was in vain.

Many will ask, “What should we do? Surely we have to do something?” Yes, it is important we understand our part. We believe and receive what Jesus has already prepared for us, and allow Him to work in us. This is so radical, that I’ll give you a few Bible verses to back it up.

“May the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it” (1 Thess 5:23 – 24).

Who sanctifies you completely? – “The God of peace.”

Who is faithful? – “He who calls you.”

Sanctification is not based on our efforts, but it’s God’s work in us.

“May the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” (Heb 13:20 – 21). 

Who makes us complete in every good work to do His will? – “The God of peace.”

Who makes us to do what is pleasing in God’s sight? – “The great Shepherd.”

How does He sanctify us? – “Through the blood of the everlasting covenant.”

What should we do? – Give Him “glory forever and ever.”

So it all depends on Jesus. He is our righteousness, redemption, sanctification and wisdom.

The works of God were sometimes frightening in the Old Testament. Do you remember when God thundered in the mountain of Sinai? They were all in a state of panic, including Moses. Sinai was a demonstration of God’s holiness and it scared the people. The holiness and sanctification that manifests through Jesus is not frightening – it is attractive.

When Moses came down from the mountain of Sinai, people ran away because of fear. When Jesus came down from the mountain of transfiguration we read: “When they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him” (Mark 9:15).

The glory of the Old Testament was frightening, but the glory of the New Testament is attractive.

Don’t be discouraged if a person isn’t transformed overnight. God didn’t send Jesus to change people’s behavior, but to give us a new heart. As soon as the heart changes, the behavior will change as well.

Paul writes, “May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work” (2 Thess 2:16 – 17).

Who is going to establish us in every good work? – The “Lord Jesus Christ Himself.” When we try to become holy through our own efforts, it leads into restlessness and troubles. God’s way gives us positive results – “everlasting consolation and good hope” through God’s “grace.”

Give Him Glory

The key is to say “YES” to righteousness, faith, love and peace.

How do we avoid lusts and ungodly behavior? Paul writes, “Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Tim 2:22). Many read only the first four words: “Flee also youthful lusts.” If we stop there, we will fail. The key is to say “YES” to righteousness, faith, love and peace.

If a baby cries, it doesn’t help if we say, “stop crying.” Instead, we try to direct the baby’s attention elsewhere by singing or shaking a key ring. Suddenly the baby forgets why he was crying in the first place! The way to the victory over sin is by not trying to conquer sin through our own strength, but “pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness” (1 Tim 6:11). We will focus on Jesus’ righteousness, godliness, faith and love in us.

“The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!” (2 Tim 4:18)

Who delivers me from evil? – “The Lord.” Who preserves me? – “The Lord.”

What do we do? – “We give Him glory forever and ever.”

Who is able to keep you from stumbling? Who is able to present you faultless? – “God our Savior.”

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen” (Jude, v. 24 – 25).

Who is able to keep you from stumbling? Who is able to present you faultless? – “God our Savior.”

What is our part? – “Give Him glory, majesty, dominion and power, now and forever.”

Sanctification is not what we can do, but what Jesus does in us. Our job is simply to believe and entrust ourselves to Him. We can live a holy life, but not in our own strength. True sanctification is Jesus’ life in us.

We hear much today about the threat against Christianity. Many look at the secularized western society with laws that disregard the Bible, while others cite the advancement of Islam as our major threat. We are encouraged to fight against these forces of secularism and false religion if Christianity is to survive. Books, magazines, and articles are published and sermons are preached where the world around us is described in negative terms. We are fighting immorality, corruption, and secularization. The solution according to many writers is more Christian unity, more “spiritual warfare” and more “unity.” If only all churches could come together and come into agreement, stand united, then we would be strong and have a chance, and maybe revival would come.

If Christianity is about tradition and western culture built on Judeo-Christian principles, then the above reasoning is, of course, correct. This rationality leaves little or no expectation or faith in the power of the Gospel. If Christianity is simply about our efforts to unite and fight evil, what really then is Christianity? In fact, those who question the survival of Christianity, with that question, are actually demonstrating their lack of understanding. Those who believe in the power of the Gospel are not concerned about the survival of a religious form, but our concern is that the Gospel would have “free course.” We know that the Gospel is God’s power and it shall be preached to all nations (Matt. 24:14). If only the Gospel is given room, it contains the life of God and it will prevail.

The important thing is to be born-again.

Christianity without the Gospel is not Christianity at all, and it is not worth fighting for. The Greek word “evaggelio” means “good news” or “glad tidings.” What is this message of good news and glad tidings? It is that God was in Christ and put the world’s sins on Jesus; the world was then reconciled to God through what Jesus did on the cross (2 Cor. 5:18-19; Rom 5:10). Jesus solved the world’s sin problem – He died and rose again. He is now alive and all those who receive Him, receive power to become God’s children. When we turn from self-sufficiency to receiving the Good News of what Jesus has done, we are born-again. Those who receive Jesus become new creations; the nature of righteousness and love comes into us. Then the Gospel has victorious power in itself to transform both the individual and the society.

We are not fighting for a cultural heritage or a tradition - it is the Gospel we are fighting for.

The great question is if we are born-again, or not. The message of grace is simply an offer to the entire world to receive what Jesus has done. And when we receive it, we are recipients of a new life. Muslims need to be born-again. Buddhists, Hindus, Shintoists, Atheists, and especially Christians need to be born-again. We are not fighting for a cultural heritage or a tradition - it is the Gospel we are fighting for.

Our hope with the Global Grace Network is that many will rise up across the world to take up the battle against the deceptive, merit-based religion that focuses on human performance. Neither human wisdom, nor legalistic religion has any power in it. The power is in the Good News.

The important word is “Gospel.” As far as we know Jesus never used the words “Christian” or “Christianity.” Instead He spoke much about the Gospel. Paul, Peter and the other disciples continued in that same style. We, on the other hand, hear little about the Gospel, but much about the defense of Christianity. Maybe a renewed focus on the fact that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16), would lead to survival of real Christianity and the salvation of the world.

Moving the pulpit from Sinai to Golgotha.

In this edition of our newsletter we deal with “moving the pulpit from Sinai to Golgotha.” Golgotha represents the Gospel while Sinai represents legalistic performance-oriented religion. As long as the pulpit is at Sinai, we are preaching the requirements and rules, which must be adhered to, in order for God to move. When we preach from Golgotha we are declaring the finished work of Christ, in whom we are identified in His death and resurrection.

Who is preaching in your church this Sunday?

In our seminars I frequently ask pastors: “Who is preaching in your church this coming Sunday?” Then I tell the story of the prodigal son and for a moment I imagine: What if the father was not standing there, looking for the lost son, but instead the older brother was waiting at the door? What message would he have given to the prodigal? There would have been no kiss, hug, fatted calf, ring, or celebration. The prodigal’s humble statement, “I’m not worthy to be called your son,” would have been met with: “You surely aren’t worthy, and don’t even think you are going to enter into father’s house. No, you will be staying with the servants until we can test the validity and sincerity of your heart.” Imagine, how discouraging. Surely the prodigal would have responded: “Yes, I know, I’m unworthy and useless; send me out with the servants.” You see, the father didn’t even allow the prodigal to go through his long, prepared speech of penance and remorse. The father represents Golgotha, while the older brother represents Sinai. Who is preaching in your church this Sunday? Is it the older brother, preaching from the Law of Moses constantly exalting, prioritizing and focusing on human failure and shortcoming? Is there continual emphasis on why people aren’t healed, why families aren’t saved and why revival hasn’t come? Are there constant paths of five steps, seven steps, twelve steps or twenty-five steps to breakthrough and victory proclaimed in your pulpit? Then it is the older brother preaching. The message is from Sinai. When we preach from Golgotha, there is a lavishly loving Heavenly Father with arms wide open, welcoming the lost and despairing son. The message from Sinai has no power to change lives; instead it arouses in us a desire to sin. The message from Golgotha transforms lives.

Christianity from Sinai is Christianity without the Gospel. Move your pulpit to Golgotha. That’s the message that transformed the world 2,000 years ago, and when preached, it will have the same effect once again.

Coke bottles its product in more than 200 countries and is the world’s largest beverage company; it has really reached the world. On many occasions I have travelled on dirty, dusty back-roads in Africa or Asia without any advertising billboards, except huge Coca-Cola signs.

It doesn’t matter if you are among Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists or Christians…Coke is everywhere.

I’m sure you have enjoyed a Coke or a diet Coke; who hasn’t? But the story and popularity of Coca-Cola reminds me of Jesus’ words:

“The children in this world are in their generation wiser than the children of the light” (Luke 16:8).

We can learn something from Coke; they want every person to enjoy their product. In less than 150 years, Coca-Cola has literally covered the globe. How tragic that the message of Jesus Christ still remains unknown to vast parts of the population. Jesus said about the living water that He offers, “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14).

Jesus gave only one assignment: “to preach the Gospel to every creature.” There is an obvious question that begs for an answer: “how did Coca-Cola reach the world, while the church has not yet completed the task that Jesus gave us? Why have we not succeeded?”

Very few preachers, denominations or Christian organizations are willing to face this compelling question. What about the unreached? What about those who have never heard the Gospel of God’s love revealed through Jesus?

Why is it that ninety-nine percent of all Christian literature, television and radio is consumed by, and directed toward, the already Christian world? The two billion people who have never heard the Gospel, and the other two billion who live in countries where the Gospel light is very dim, receive very little attention.

Jesus warned us. Sometimes, a company like Coca-Cola is “wiser” than those who carry the message of the Gospel. Coca-Cola has a huge marketing—or outreach—budget.

On back-roads with grass huts and humble shacks in Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, Nigeria or Indonesia, Coca-Cola is everywhere. I have personally visited many such neighbourhoods and asked, “Have you ever heard of Jesus?” and heard the sad responses, “No, who is he?” Yet, everyone had heard of Coca-Cola.

World Impact Ministries is about Gospel advancement. We live and breathe getting the Gospel out. I’m personally driven by the assignment Jesus gave us.

That’s why our Gospel Festivals, Pastors’ Training Seminars, literature distribution, sending out missionaries and starting international bible schools is growing. Sometimes, when I see how slow the Church has been to fulfill the assignment that Jesus gave to us 2000 years ago I feel discouraged. At times I point a finger at myself, feeling that I have not communicated the urgency as well as I should have. I’ve not been able to convince enough people how important this assignment is.

Then I look to God’s word. Jesus told a story in Matthew chapter 20 about a landowner who hired labourers in the first, third, sixth, ninth and eleventh hour.

One of the awesome truths is that the labour force was greatest in the eleventh hour. We are in the eleventh hour of opportunity. The needs are only getting bigger. Two billion people have not heard the Gospel, and history is accelerating. This is not the time to rest on our laurels, but to be energized for gospel advancement.

This “eleventh hour” team of labourers is growing. Together, we are reaping an unprecedented harvest. People are coming to Jesus. Yet, we can learn from Coke; while most churches put 1% or maybe 2 % into world missions (and many give nothing), Coke has really put its resources into getting its message out.

Here are some of the current urgent projects:

• Our East Africa Swahili Bible College is starting next month. Students are coming from all over East Africa. Your gifts of love make this possible.
• God is blessing our missionaries. One of them, Susan Hoover, is conducting ever-larger Gospel crusades. I will be telling you more about her and our other missionaries in the months to come.
• Huge Gospel Festivals are coming up in Indonesia, Pakistan and Nigeria.
• We will train another 5000 pastors this year
• Hundreds of thousands of new believers need follow-up material prepared for them.

Drinking Coke is the most natural thing in the world to people. They don’t think of it as an American drink; it’s simply a thirst-quencher. Yet, the One who is the eternal thirst-quencher, Jesus Christ, is completely unfamiliar. 2.5 billion people have no church, no Christian bookstore, Christian television or radio where they live. Seventeen months ago, a person came to my door asking, “would you be interested in taking ownership of The Christian Channel?” The owners could have approached any denomination or preacher in the country, but the opportunity came to us.

Now, 17 months later, the vision has become a reality. On May 4th I received word that the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC) had totally endorsed our application.

It’s time to take back the original purpose of Christian television. Do you remember when Christian television first began, how believers enthusiastically embraced the idea? We were excited to bring the knowledge of Jesus Christ to everyone.

Early pioneers like Billy Graham, Katharine Kuhlman and Rex Humbard faithfully kept Christ in the center of their media outreach; the church was on its way to cover the earth with Christ’s Gospel. Regrettably in recent years Christian tv has become a “turnoff”, even a laughing stock to some. Let’s take Christian television back.

In 1987 I preached a prophetic message about Canada to three hundred pastors and hundreds of others at a meeting in Saskatoon. People were crying as I brought a Canadian flag, pointing to the maple leaf and declaring that the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations.

Since then I have heard many others share the same about our flag, but when I said it that night in Saskatoon, I had never heard it before. It was something that exploded by God’s Spirit in me.

I spoke about the prophetic significance of the red and the white on our flag, and what God had showed me concerning the English and French speaking parts of our country. Later I published the “The Coming Canadian Awakening”, and in 1988 I toured 50 cities across our country to share the vision for Canada.

Since then we have been busy with Gospel Festivals, Church Planting, International Bible Schools and sending out missionaries, but the vision for Canada has kept on burning in my heart.

That’s why I was thrilled when the opportunity to purchase The Christian Channel came 17 months ago. I didn’t pray or fast for this; God brought the opportunity to my door.

It is a gigantic challenge. Already more than 30% of Canadian households are receiving The Christian Channel, and we expect to double this by 2010.

This summer the Christian Channel will be rebranded “Grace TV”. I commit to make Grace TV into a Gospel Channel you will be proud to tell your friends about. Thanks to you our last Gospel Revolution event was a HUGE success!

Some of those involved said it was a life changing moment when they stood on the stage and saw the crowd of Muslim people raising their hands calling out to Jesus to come into their life!

Once again… we have made history! The light of the Gospel has shone into the darkness!

When I first went to the city of Kisaran the leaders there told me it was impossible to do an event to preach the gospel there.. ‘it has never been done!’.. ‘this is a Muslim area!’.. ‘you can’t event get the permissions.’..

But like Jesus said.. ‘this is impossible with man.. but ALL things are POSSIBLE with God!”

God loves the Muslim people! He loves the people of kisaran! And so HE opened all the doors and he made it POSSIBLE!

Not only did the event happen… it was the BIGGEST event and was an amazing success! For 3 nights the crowds poured unto the field and THOUSANDS heard the gospel… most of them for the first time ever in their lives!

The crowd stretched on further than our lights could reach… but not further than the love of God can touch!

What an amazing joy to bring the gospel to these beautiful people!

On Saturday night a famous band was also playing in another field in that city.  I was a little worried they might steal some of our crowd. But no! Their field was EMPTY but ours was PACKED FULL! That’s not possibly from us… It’s ALL God! He brought them to the field! He did it ALL!

We do not stop here.. my heart is burning even stronger than ever to preach the gospel where it has never been preached before!

Rom 10:13 says “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That is amazing… that includes ALL PEOPLE, FROM ALL RELIGONS! But don’t stop there…

Verse 14: How shall they call on Him in whom they have e not believed?

Verse 15: How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

Verse 16: And how shall they hear without a preacher?

Verse 17: And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

If we do not preach, they can not hear.

If they can not hear, they can not believe.

If they do not believe, they can not be saved.

Since I began the monthly “Increase For You” teaching at the beginning of this year, we have looked at our heart. Jesus made it abundantly clear that prosperity begins in the heart. Our job is to see to it that our heart is filled with good treasure. This is entirely doable since by being born again God has given us a new heart. Here are some of the important principles we have looked at:

• Faith people have fears; they just don’t let their fears stop them.

• Your comfort zone is your prosperity zone, so expand your comfort zone.

• It’s never the size of the problem; it’s how big Jesus is in you.

This month we look at how generosity is inseparable from prosperity, because generosity is the nature of God.

1. Giving exercises my God-nature.

We are “partakers of the divine nature”–– (2 Peter 1:4). Since God is generous and gives “to all liberally”, as seen in how “God so loved the world that He gave…”, we become givers. God is a great lover and great lovers are great givers.

It is possible to give without loving but we can’t love without giving. In fact, giving is the most talked about characteristic in the Bible. “Faith” is mentioned 612 times, “hope” 185 times and “love” 733 times. When we look at “give” and “giving,” these are mentioned a whopping 2292 times. Why does giving take up so much space in the Bible?

Because our giving is an expression of faith, hope and love. It shows that God is in us.

2. Giving guards my heart.

Jesus said, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Money is like a magnet that pulls at our heart. When I give my money to Jesus and His Gospel, my heart is pulled toward Jesus and the Gospel. It’s not that God needs our money; He wants what money represents – our life. The core of selfishness is getting, while the essence of God’s love in us is giving.

3. Giving proves the reality of my faith.

Paul wrote, “Your giving proves the reality of your faith” (2 Cor 9:13 Phillips). We can talk all we want about believing in Jesus and in the power of His Gospel, but our giving for the Gospel proves the reality of our words. That’s why God wants us to give as we purpose in our heart, “not grudgingly or of necessity, because God loves a cheerful giver.” This kind of giving carries a promise that “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Do you see how giving is connected to our prosperity? Giving expresses love from our hearts, and remember the previous teaching: prosperity begins in the heart. This generous way of living is backed up by the God who makes “all grace abound” to us.

4. Giving without grief.

God told the people of Israel that when they give to God expecting prosperity, they should not be “grieved” in their giving (Deuteronomy 15:10). That sure ties in with what Paul told us that God loves a cheerful giver. You know, it is possible to give with “grief”. That’s when we give because we feel pressure, either to impress others, God or ourselves. When giving is a joyful expression, it comes from a heart that knows we can never out-give God. His harvest for us is always bigger than our seed. Isaiah wrote that “a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand” (Isaiah 32:8). To “devise” is to scheme or plan. The generous person’s mind is filled with plans how to be generous. Then generosity causes the person to “stand” even when everything around him or her is falling apart. You see givers are happy people while takers are miserable.

Remember, prosperity comes in so many ways: increased income, decreased expenses, good health, ideas, guidance and inner peace. The widow woman who lived in a time of famine gave her last piece of food to the prophet when she herself was flat broke. The Macedonians must have been in a similar position, because Paul says that they abounded “out of deep poverty” into “great generosity”.

Sometimes the greatest blessings manifest when we recognize that we are nothing in ourselves, but our entire dependency is on Jesus. There are lots of great principles, but remember the number one reason, in fact the very foundation, for your prosperity is Jesus. You don’t make yourself prosperous–– his death and resurrection have laid the foundation for your prosperity. Look at this key scripture again:

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

(2 Corinthians 8:9)

We could interpret this verse to mean that we become rich spiritually, emotionally or mentally and that’s certainly true. Yet in its context it speaks of finances. Jesus Christ became poor, that we might become rich. That’s what I base my entire faith on––what Jesus has done. He has provided prosperity. Meditate on what Jesus has done, receive it and let generosity flow.

Millions of precious people are stirring themselves towards God, clamoring for the free gift of Jesus’ righteousness, healing and new life. The open doors have stretched our resources beyond what we can (at this time) cope with. It is a problem, but it is a good problem, one that can be solved as we pull together.

This current situation reminds me of Jesus’ words:

“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest”, (Matt 9:37 – 38).

You can reap a harvest with a sickle or a harvester-combine. I love to lead people to Jesus one by one, or in small groups, but I also like the harvester-combine approach where a large number of souls are saved in one sweep, just like on the day of Pentecost.

I remember visiting the prairies and seeing the harvester-combine work on a massive and efficient scale. It cuts down the grain, and steadily and systematically moves across the ripened field to pick up and pull the stalks of grain in the right direction. At the same time, it gathers and threshes each stalk while separating each grain from its shell, cleaning the grains and making them ready for their purpose.

The whole point of this thorough harvest process is that none of the harvest will be wasted, if possible, not even one stalk of grain left behind.

Partner, this is what we (you and I) do––together; we are a harvester-combine through World Impact Ministries.

Every harvester-combine needs a tune up, to be refueled and made ready for the next great wave of harvest (souls). Can you see the parallel?

I’m ready to leave for Pakistan, truly one of the world’s most needy fields of harvest. The President of United States recently commented that possibly it is the most dangerous country in the world.

Why are we going? Because Pakistan has 160 million precious souls without the Gospel. Even worse, most have no church within their reach, no way to ever hear the Good News of the Savior.

Jeremiah gave us some tragic words, “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved!” (Jer. 8:20). Today we have unparalleled opportunities. What a tragedy if we let this slip between our fingers.

Our harvester-combine (World Impact Ministers) needs serious help right now. If everyone says “YES” to what the Holy Spirit prompts them to give, we will be able to handle the challenge before us in Pakistan and then in Indonesia. We must be ready for this upcoming wave of harvest.

This month we look at how generosity is inseparable from prosperity, because generosity is the nature of God.

Giving exercises my God-nature.

We are “partakers of the divine nature”–– (2 Peter 1:4). Since God is generous and gives “to all liberally”, as seen in how “God so loved the world that He gave…”, we become givers. God is a great lover and great lovers are great givers.

It is possible to give without loving but we can’t love without giving. In fact, giving is the most talked about characteristic in the Bible. “Faith” is mentioned 612 times, “hope” 185 times and “love” 733 times. When we look at “give” and “giving,” these are mentioned a whopping 2292 times. Why does giving take up so much space in the Bible?

Because our giving is an expression of faith, hope and love. It shows that God is in us.

Giving guards my heart.

Jesus said, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Money is like a magnet that pulls at our heart. When I give my money to Jesus and His Gospel, my heart is pulled toward Jesus and the Gospel. It’s not that God needs our money; He wants what money represents – our life. The core of selfishness is getting, while the essence of God’s love in us is giving.

Giving proves the reality of my faith.

Paul wrote, “Your giving proves the reality of your faith” (2 Cor 9:13 Phillips). We can talk all we want about believing in Jesus and in the power of His Gospel, but our giving for the Gospel proves the reality of our words. That’s why God wants us to give as we purpose in our heart, “not grudgingly or of necessity, because God loves a cheerful giver.” This kind of giving carries a promise that “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Do you see how giving is connected to our prosperity? Giving expresses love from our hearts, and remember the previous teaching: prosperity begins in the heart. This generous way of living is backed up by the God who makes “all grace abound” to us.

Giving without grief.

God told the people of Israel that when they give to God expecting prosperity, they should not be “grieved” in their giving (Deuteronomy 15:10). That sure ties in with what Paul told us that God loves a cheerful giver. You know, it is possible to give with “grief”. That’s when we give because we feel pressure, either to impress others, God or ourselves. When giving is a joyful expression, it comes from a heart that knows we can never out-give God. His harvest for us is always bigger than our seed. Isaiah wrote that “a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand” (Isaiah 32:8). To “devise” is to scheme or plan. The generous person’s mind is filled with plans how to be generous. Then generosity causes the person to “stand” even when everything around him or her is falling apart. You see givers are happy people while takers are miserable.

Remember, prosperity comes in so many ways: increased income, decreased expenses, good health, ideas, guidance and inner peace. The widow woman who lived in a time of famine gave her last piece of food to the prophet when she herself was flat broke. The Macedonians must have been in a similar position, because Paul says that they abounded “out of deep poverty” into “great generosity”.

Sometimes the greatest blessings manifest when we recognize that we are nothing in ourselves, but our entire dependency is on Jesus. There are lots of great principles, but remember the number one reason, in fact the very foundation, for your prosperity is Jesus. You don’t make yourself prosperous–– his death and resurrection have laid the foundation for your prosperity. Look at this key scripture again:

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

(2 Corinthians 8:9)

We could interpret this verse to mean that we become rich spiritually, emotionally or mentally and that’s certainly true. Yet in its context it speaks of finances. Jesus Christ became poor, that we might become rich. That’s what I base my entire faith on––what Jesus has done. He has provided prosperity. Meditate on what Jesus has done, receive it and let generosity flow.

There is a little three-letter word, “HOT,” that the Lord stirred in my heart. Jesus said He wanted His followers to stay hot, not “lukewarm” (Rev. 3:16). If we want to trust in our own effort and strength, we are free to do that, but if we’re going to trust in Jesus and what He has done, let’s do it all the way… red hot!

When I think of “hot”, the word “fire” comes to mind.

• God makes his ministers a flame of fire (Psalm 104:4)

• John the Baptist prophesied that Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11)

• Tongues as of fire descended on the disciples (Acts 2:3)

Friend, it’s one thing to light a fire, it’s another to keep it hot. It’s one thing to get a revelation of Jesus, and it’s another to stay strong in that revelation. Here is a word that has remained hot in my spirit for a long time. Twenty-nine years ago in India, while standing in front of the largest audience I’d ever faced up to that point, Jesus spoke these words very clearly in my spirit:

“If you will preach and believe My Gospel, the people will also believe it. You will not need to touch the people for I will come and touch them and confirm my Gospel.”

Twenty-nine years later those words are still burning in my spirit. No matter how many times I repeat those very words, they are as fresh and hot as when Jesus first spoke them. Sometimes I stretch out my hand saying, “Look how my arm is limited,” and then I continue, “but there is another invisible hand stretched over this audience and that arm has no limitation.”

Often there are acres and acres of people; some 500-100 feet from the platform. Obviously I can’t touch everyone. My hand is limited, but not the hand of God.

That promise from God twenty-nine years ago applies to our whole prayer ministry. There is no limit with God. The same kinds of testimonies we receive in our Gospel Festivals happen here in our GRACE PRAYER CENTER. Please include your prayer request on the response form.

You know it’s amazing how one little three letter word, “HOT” can impact your spirit.

• HOT PASSION is an excitement about Jesus that is just as strong today as when you first met Him.

• HOT VISION is a sense of purpose and destiny and divine call as real today as when you were first born again.

• HOT GENEROSITY is cheerful, generous giving in response to what Jesus has done, expecting an abundant harvest of increase.

Circumstances can sometimes lessen our fervor. As awesome as this outreach to East Africa was, one of the negative effects is that it really depleted our missions funds. I was a bit discouraged about it and then I asked the Lord to speak into my spirit and I was expecting maybe a longer word, but instead I just felt the Holy Spirit speak, “stay hot.”

Now it’s one thing to be told to stay hot, it’s another thing to know how. Well the reason for our fervor and commitment is none other than Jesus Himself. He is the source of HOT PASSION, HOT VISION and a HOT GENEROSITY for souls.

We know from the story of Samuel that there was always a light burning in the House of God that never must go out (1 Sam 3:31). Well that light and fire is now burning in us; Christ in us is our light.

A simple, even odd question to ask? Maybe, but many in Kenya might answer, “No, God does not”. During World Impact Ministries’ recent campaign to the East African nation of Kenya, where it conducted three Gospel outreaches, anti-government sentiment was high, even among believers.

Before we point fingers and judge this negative opinion, it is important to recognize that Kenya ranks near the bottom of trustworthy governments in the world today, as listed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Kenya’s sentiment is understandable, especially in view of the countries brush with civil war and genocide in 2007/2008. The unrest was brought on by ethnic divisions and a disputed political election.

However, Jesus is our example, and we find in the Bible that Jesus was a friend of sinners. Not just any sinners, but we often find of note able sinners. Think of Zaccheus skimming money from the collection of taxes (Luke 19). He was a corrupt politician, yet Jesus specifically called for him by name and went to his home to eat. Jesus ran against the grain of rational, religious thinking. Why spend time with those most reviled by humanity? Logic says, “What about Your devout religious followers, Jesus, who give their lives for You? Shouldn’t you devote more time to them? After all, they have earned that right.” Rational thinking, yes, but if the Bible tells us anything, it is that God’s grace and love for humanity is anything but logical or rational.

How could Jesus, the Son of God, the “founder” of Christianity, allow a known prostitute to wash His feet, let alone get close to Him (Luke 7)? No religious person today, let alone a religious leader, should even come close to such a sinner… right? Reason and logic would definitely agree.

Jesus came with another approach. He came to bring life to the entire human race regardless of background, race or religion. Even though Jesus’ mandate on earth was to preach to the Jews (Matthew 15:24) He could not help but bless and help non-Jews. It was simply His nature. Think of the Samaritan lady in John 4. She was not just any non-Jew, but a non-Jew with five previous husbands, and not married to the one she was living with now. This was an overtly sinful lady in the world’s eyes. Can you imagine the stir this would have caused in religious circles? His actions completely undermined the religious institution’s foundations. Understandably the Pharisees wanted to kill Jesus. Yet, Jesus gave no credence to what religious protocol dictated. He was ultimately motivated by love. Now, He has given us the same Gospel mandate. 

Peter Youngren and World Impact Ministries came to Kenya to conduct a Gospel campaign that followed in the steps of Jesus; no matter how irrational the approach. Whether a political leader, who was perhaps vilified by the people, or a person at the lowest rung of society, all were welcomed to join this Gospel outreach and receive God’s unconditional love. God’s hand of favor was never more evident on this approach than this outreach to Kenya.

Kisumu, Kenya was the location of World Impact Ministries great Gospel Festival. The meeting took place on a huge open field in the center of the city. Kisumu is located in the western part of Kenya, and was at the center of the ethnic violence in 2007/2008 when the election controversy erupted and the country was filled with riots and post election violence. News agencies reported several hundred people killed, many thousands more injured and untold thousands displaced from their homes. While the violence has since been stopped, the emotional scars of the people of Kenya, particularly Kisumu, were still very fresh.

IRRATIONAL SUCCESS #1: Prime Minister & Vice President

Peter had opportunity to meet one on one with Kenya’s Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga, in his personal home. Prime Minister Odinga was the “runner up” in the last election, whom many international oversight committees say was the rightful winner of the election. As Peter prayed with Prime Minister Odinga, God’s presence was very real, touching the heart of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister later called to thank Peter, and share how touched he was by Jesus during their time together. 

It was also of considerable importance when the Vice President of Kenya, Stephene Kalonzo Musyoka, joined the meetings to address the people. Again, Peter prayed for the Vice President, and shared God’s unmerited love for him. Peter says, “From the very first meeting I had with then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, years ago, I learned that all politicians are real people with real needs, and open to receive help from Jesus.”  While some might conclude that these two political meetings were of no use, we find it mirrors the approach Jesus took during His time here on earth.

IRRATIONAL SUCCESS #2: National Press Conference

As Peter arrived in Kisumu, news agents from most every news agency in Kisumu descended on the conference room where the press conference was planned. Why national secular press agents found great interest in a Gospel event is in itself very irrational, but yet another sign of God’s hand of favor on this event.

During the press conference, Peter was peppered with questions relating to the violence, ethnic divisions and political corruption in Kenya the past year. Peter never left the message of Jesus Christ, and shared that the single greatest agent of change on earth today is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Social agendas, while important and needed, can never replace the power of a New Creation life in Jesus. Thieves, drunkards, cheaters, etc. become contributing members of society through Jesus. Peter said, “The cross of Jesus tore down every wall of separation between people groups. Of course, for the cross to take effect we have to preach it, and that is what I am here to do in Kisumu.”

IRRATIONAL SUCCESS #3: Friendship Dinner With Religious Leaders

Another signature approach Peter has developed with tremendous success is an approach of friendship to people of other religions. Day one of the Gospel Festival in Kisumu saw Peter share dinner with religious leaders from Islam, Christianity and Hinduism. Pastors are always surprised when Peter takes this approach. It is uncommon, even irrational, for a “healing evangelist” to take time on the first day of the campaign to meet with leaders from different religions, but Peter sticks to Jesus’ irrational and non religious approach. At the dinner Peter shared in a loving manner that Jesus took away the sins of the world and that all can receive Him. The message was very well received, and Gospel seeds were planted in the lives of each of those present, Muslim and Hindu leaders alike.

IRRATIONAL SUCCESS #4: What Is Your Worth?

The Gospel Festival was an astounding display of God’s love revealed for mankind. The Lord gave Peter a powerful message of simplicity that hit home with resounding power. “What is your worth?”, Peter asked the massive crowd packed on the field. “You are worth what someone is willing to pay for you,” Peter continued, the crowd intently hanging on every word. “God paid His only Son, Jesus, for you.” This profound revelation sent a stir through the crowd. People who just a year ago faced death and compete ruin, many losing loved ones and personal possessions, desperately needed to hear this remarkable truth; they are loved by God. It is not hard to imagine one can lose sight of this love through the hardships of war. It is irrational to believe that people scarred so deeply by human greed and terror could be melted once again by God’s loving embrace, but it happened during this Gospel Festival in Kisumu, Kenya.

IRRATIONAL SUCCESS #5: Untold Number Of Miracles

Night after night the platform was filled with beautiful Kenyans testifying of Jesus healing their bodies. Countless stories could be relayed, but especially heart wrenching was the story of Felix and Shadrack, young brothers without parents in Kisumu to care for them. Felix had carried his younger brother to the Festival because Shadrack could not walk. Yet there Shadrack was walking under his own power. Tears streamed down Felix face as he relayed the story to Peter on the platform. Should young, unlearned boys coming to the Festival on their own be qualified to receive from Jesus? It seems Jesus thinks so.

Incredible numbers of healings could not make it to the platform to testify. One evening, as Peter was driving back from the Festival, Peter wound down his window and started talking to those walking next to the car. The moment he rolled down his window he saw a smiling man with his family. “I’m so happy, “ the man said. “My daughter has been a deaf mute and last night Jesus healed her.” Peter called the girl over to the car, and sure enough she could hear and communicate normally. Here was another example of a sensational healing that was unable to make it to the platform because of the tight throng of people gathered.

Hundreds did make it to the platform testifying of healing from blindness, tumors, wheelchairs, crutches, deafness, HIV aids and cancer. Pictures of a handful of those who were healed are available at www.PeterYoungren.org.

IRRATIONAL SUCCESS #6: Salvation – New Creations in Christ

The call for salvation each night of the Festival was especially moving. Tears ran down the faces of many precious Kenyans, as untold thousands responded to receive Jesus as personal Savior. Follow workers worked furiously each night with the massive response, and passed out follow up books to each new believer. To think that known murders and violent offenders listened and heard the message of God’s love and became new creations in Christ offends the rational mind, yet it is true. God freely accepts whomever comes to Him and firmly adopts them into the family of Christ.

The Gospel render unspeakable power, and it most often produces quite irrational results. The Apostle Paul stated, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile” (Romans 1:16). The One Who spoke all living things into being, has given us His spoken word to plant “seeds” for the Gospel; and we see them bringing great fruit throughout the world. Often the fruit is irrational to our human thinking, but is a huge success in the Kingdom of God. Eternity will only reveal the extent of the fruit reaped as a result of this recent Gospel Campaign to Kenya.

Think of this book as “spiritual milk.” God’s Word is clear, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” (1 Peter 2:2-3).

People who receive Christ get a “taste” that “the Lord is gracious.” Do you remember when you first tasted God’s grace? Maybe you sang, “‘tis so sweet to trust in Jesus”, Jesus became precious, and there was a hunger inside to know Him better.

Once we discover God’s love there is an automatic desire for the “milk of the Word”! The Bible is clear – “newborn babes desire… milk.”

You may have heard me tell the heart-wrenching story about a newborn abandoned in the cold. It made me think of newborns in the body of Christ. We never want to abandon a spiritual baby. It wouldn’t be right to send new believers away to fend for themselves without this “milk of the word.”

Friend, as you receive this eNewsletter, I have just concluded the campaign in Kenya and now another huge outreach in Pakistan is before us. We are in the middle of a spiritual mega-harvest. Will you help give “spiritual milk?”

Each book costs only 23¢. This include printing, preparation work, translation and shipping to the Gospel Festival site. Often books are passed from one person to another, read again and again until the cover is frayed at the edges. How can we do this at a cost of only 23¢? There are two reasons: because we print large numbers, and we stretch every dollar for maximum use.

I need everyone, if at all possible, to invest $69. That will pay for 300 books to bless 300 new believers. Can you do it? Will you? I sincerely pray for God to speak to your heart. Your help is critically needed.

Maybe some can give more than $69; maybe $345 or $690 and others can maybe share $30 or $50, but I need everyone to do something.

The days go by quickly, and much happens in a short time. Here is a 20 hour segment that I just got to enjoy.
11 AM: After a five hour journey by car we arrive at the outskirts of Kisumu. About 20 bishops and pastors are waiting to greet us; Pentecostals, Anglicans, Baptists and others. There is palpable joy and expectancy. Our Festival Director, Marius Nikolaisen, and several of our missionaries are also present. Mark Enos, one of our recent Bible College graduates, is running by, so busy in keeping everything running smoothly that he doesn’t see my wave. I love our missionaries.
11.15 AM: Now we are entering the city itself in a parade arranged to notify the city that the Gospel Festival is about to begin; singers, cars, and excited believers are in our parade route. People along the roadside are waving and greeting us. We go by the beautiful Hindu temple and large mosque in the center of the city, while announcements of the Gospel Festival are being read from loudspeakers. There is no hostility, just friendly faces everywhere.
12.10 PM: Finally, we get to the guest-house where we are staying for the week and I have a few minutes to unpack and freshen up.
12.35 PM: It’s off to the press-conference. The room is packed with journalists, including a secular film production team doing a documentary. I also see some of our missionaries in the room, including Serge and Beth Leger. I make a 20 minute statement about our purpose in Kenya, emphasizing two areas. One is our friendship approach to Muslims and Hindus; they are warmly invited to receive Jesus without discrimination! Then I spend considerable time talking about the post-election killings that swept Kenya last year, with Christians killing Christians along tribal lines, emphasizing that the cross of Jesus Christ is the answer; His death has torn down the walls that divide people. Of course, if we who are the carriers of this message don’t preach it, how will the broad masses know and believe?  I really enjoy press-conferences and the give and take of the journalists’ questions. Again, they have lots of questions and try to trip me up by getting me to take sides among the political parties, but Jesus always lets His wisdom come through. I stick to my theme. I think they are all a bit shocked at my insistence that the killings prove that Kenya has not heard the Gospel, even with all the churches around. Many use the word Gospel as a “code-word” for whatever they want to say, instead of presenting the taking away of sins by Jesus at the cross.
2 PM: We head back to the guest-house. The afternoon hours before the Gospel Festival starts are precious to me. I spend that time meditating and thanking God for the meeting tonight, and the team knows not to disturb me.
5.30 PM: I leave for the Gospel Festival held on the enormous Hospital Grounds. The meeting has been in full swing for over an hour and a great crowd has gathered.
6 PM: My preaching starts exactly at 6, because we want to use the day-light hours as much as possible. The sun is still shining as I tell the people that we have come to give witness that the unlimited God has come in limited human flesh in the person of Jesus. By His death He “once for all” put away our sins, giving us the opportunity to repent of our self-reliance and self-righteousness and receive the free gift of Jesus’ righteousness. I ask the people, “how much are you worth?” and state: “Your value is whatever someone is willing to pay for you, and God paid the ultimate price for you by the sacrifice of Jesus.” People are openly weeping; God’s love is melting hearts.
6.40 PM: The entire audience responds to the salvation call, followed by a parade of healing testimonies. Already the first night, blind, deaf and many others are healed.
7.40 PM: Our testimony service is over and counselors are distributing follow-up material as I head back to the guest-house for a quick shower; our next meeting is in 20 minutes.
8 PM: Time for our “Friendship Dinner,” where I get to teach the Gospel to politicians and Hindu and Muslim leaders in the city. A number of pastors are present and are surprised; they have never seen anything like this. I use traditions within the various cultures, and when I get to the point that Jesus took away the world’s sins and that all can receive Him, the head of the Hindu temple leads in applause. The message is hitting home loud and clear.
11 PM: Finally, the dinner is over and I get to go to my room. I’m exhausted but rejoicing at all that happened. We’ve got an early morning appointment.
5.30 AM: Time to get up. I have a 7AM breakfast at the private home of the Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr. Raila Odinga, who is the man believed to have been cheated out of the Presidency, and Nathan Thurber is accompanying me. The election fraud triggered the wave of killing and looting last year, leaving 1300 dead. The prime minister’s home is very nice but humble; the calendar on the wall features a photo of Mr. Odinga and British PM, Gordon Brown. We hit it off very well. I’m told he is very selective about who he meets, but the message of the cross of Jesus also touches the heart of the PM. I liked him instantly, and I’m impressed that he forfeited the Presidency of Kenya to stop the violence. We decide to try to meet again so I can interview him for our television program.
Every step of the way the focus is on Jesus, His cross, His resurrection and what it means in the current situation; politically, personally and for society at large. I don’t have several messages, but one: “we preach Christ crucified”. Those who think that we need to look beyond this message have not understood the depth and width of what happened at the “once for all” sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Once understood, the message of the cross affects every area; spiritual, financial, relational, and even the way we conduct business affairs of a nation. Let me hear from you. -Peter  

After three wonderful services at the Celebration Church yesterday, I left for Africa at midnight. Now I have a seven hour layover in London, and, I must admit, I don’t think I will ever get fully adjusted to air-travel, security checks, lineups and your biological time-clock being turned upside down. I’ve found a quiet spot in a corner of Heathrow airport to try to sleep sitting in a chair: it’s not working very well. You can see the effect of the financial situation—-a lot less travelers than normal.

What keeps me going is our purpose. At last check (late last week) 7000 pastors were pre-registered for the Gospel Revolution seminar in Nairobi. Well, our goal is nothing short of turning a whole country away from performance, merit-based religion to the Gospel of the Grace of God, the only message that can produce righteousness and true holiness. These will be intense days. Thanks for your prayers.

While here in London, I picked up a newspaper with reports of increased political tension in Pakistan: our next Gospel Festival destination. It seems we get to preach in the “hot spots”. The Gospel is the hope of the world, and from all my previous campaigns in Pakistan, I think the majority of Muslims there are wide open to the Good News of Jesus. We got terrific co-workers in Pakistan; they really give of themselves.

I have been thinking how the real answer to a troubled world lies in the knowledge of Jesus. Our mission is to turn on the light and increase the light of the knowledge of Jesus. That principle holds true no matter where you are. Sadly, the Church seems to be swimming in an ocean of strange ideas, legalistic influences and lots-–lots—of human wisdom ideas, while so little attention is given to the power of the cross of Christ. The Bible is pretty clear that one thing that will make the cross of Jesus of no effect is to preach it with words of human wisdom. What’s the situation where you live? Well, my flight leaves soon. I get in to Nairobi at 6:30 am tomorrow, then it’s off to our hotel, and at 10 am I will hold a press-conference for Kenya’s media. I want Jesus to shine brightly.
